The Patrol is the UAE's classic long-distance SUV, and this Titanium version (black and white outside, brown interior) is the one to book when several suitcases have to come along. Collect it at Zayed International Airport, load up, and head for the Liwa Oasis dunes on the edge of the Empty Quarter or a family weekend in Al Ain, with an automatic gearbox doing the work on the long highway stretches.
Rates: AED 600 a day, AED 4,200 a week (the same as seven daily rates) or AED 14,000 a month, which is roughly AED 467 per day and saves AED 4,000 against 30 separate days. Mileage caps are 300 km/day, 2,100 km/week and 4,500 km/month, with AED 3 per extra km, so it is worth adding up the distance before a long desert drive. Add 5% VAT.

Rental terms
Kilometres
Allowance: 300 km on the daily rate, 2,100 km on the weekly rate, 4,500 km on the monthly rate. Above the allowance you pay AED 3 per km. For scale: Abu Dhabi to Dubai and back is roughly 280 km.
Fuel
Like for like: bring the car back with the fuel level you received it with. If it comes back lower, the company refuels it and bills you, usually above pump price.
Security deposit
AED 2,000, blocked on your credit card rather than charged and released within 30 days of the return. To skip the deposit, ask for the zero-deposit option: a one-off fee that is not refunded. A deposit paid by debit card, cash or transfer comes back by manual refund, which takes longer.
Rental rules
